Frequently Asked Questions

Q-Do chiropractic adjustments hurt?

A-For the vast majority of people an adjustment is not only painless but provides an immediate sensation of relief.  In some cases where injury has resulted in the buildup of scar tissue or an acute inflammatory process there may be some discomfort but is typically followed by a relief of pain.

Q-How often do I need adjustments?

A-This is a very individual answer.  Some people with a recent injury need frequent care for an initial period of time.  My goal after that point is to see a patient as symptoms persist. In many cases just a few visits resolves their condition while few others benefit from ongoing maintenance to enjoy an increased quality of life.

Q-Is chiropractic care better suited for certain age groups?

A-Chiropractic care has been beneficial for people of all age groups.  From young kids carrying heavy backpacks and high school athletes to grandparents looking to find pain relief so they can pick up their grandchildren.

Q-Will Chiropractic care help with my allergies?

A-Chiropractic care has been documented to be effective pain relief for musculoskeletal conditions for a long time.  Patients who have sought care for these conditions have occasionally reported improvements with other conditions such as asthma and allergies.

Q-Will I need to have X-Rays taken?

A-In certain situations x-rays are necessary for proper management, especially after trauma where we must rule out more dangerous conditions.  I do not take x-rays as a standard procedure.  After a proper history and examination I can then determine the need for x-rays.

Q-How much will chiropractic care cost me?

A-I take most insurances and in those situations the type of insurance dictates how much the out of pocket expenses are.  Medicare does not cover examinations or x-rays and there are multiple factors from deductibles and secondary insurances that determine the cost.  Typically a Medicare patient will pay anywhere between $30-$45 for their first visit and then subsequent visits are dependant on deductibles and co-pays.  Cash patients will pay $65 for the first visit plus x-rays if needed and $35 for each follow up visit.
